Distribution list - BC recipients

I've just used the outlook distribution list feature to notify clients and colleagues of my change of address. Imagine my horror ro find that every recipient now has a list of ALL of the people I posted. I thought that receipients would simply get the heading of my list, i.e. Change of Address. There was no obvious way to BC the list of recipients.

What was Microsoft think when they created this monster?

Am I being overly sensitive to ask for intelligent defaults or clear BC options in such a list?
