Default Stop Outlook 2003 from auto send/receive

No matter what I do, I can't seem to stop Outlook 2003 from checking for mail. Mail has one IMAP account. In Tools->Send/Receive settings I have "Disable scheduled send-receive" checked. In tools options mail setup "Send immediately" is NOT checked. In the "Send/Receive" dialog, I have one group, "All Accounts" and it's set to "Online Only." Under "Settings for group 'All Accounts," "Include this group in send/receive" is checked, but "Schedule and automatic..." is NOT checked. In Send/Receive setting for All Accounts, all the boxes are checked: "Include the selected group....Send mail items....Get folder unread count. Searched the WEB and tried two suggestions: One redo all the settings, quit Outlook, reboot. Same as before, Outlook still checking for mail every minute. Second suggestion, create a new Group name, put in desired settings and delete old group. Still no solution because the program would not allow me to delete "All Accounts," the default.
