Outlook 2016 How to change POP3 to IMAP

It is my understanding that I need to update my Outlook 2016 AT&T email application settings to be OAuth compatible. I have the required secure mail key. AT&T’s instructions show that I should go to the Outlook 2016 Account Settings and change POP3 to IMAP then later on enter the secure email key. Outlook 2016 won’t let me make the change from POP3 to IMAP. There is no pull-down feature to select IMAP when I try to change it. How do I make that change?

You cannot change the account type. You must setup a new IMAP account and then delete the POP account.

When I set up the IMAP account and then delete the POP3 account, will my old personal folders and contacts be preserved?

I think I have it figured out (with some questions) but want to check with the forum first.

1. Export the pst file to my PC using the Open & Export – Import/Export feature. Just the pst file?

2. Create a new account using manual settings specifying IMAP. I have AT&T’s info on the various other settings.

3. Import the pst file into the new account. Where does it import to?

4. Delete the POP3 account. Is this necessary?
