![]() Am using office 2016 32 bit with Outlook 16 on Windows 10. Notice a lot of people seem to be having problems with Outlook 16 indexing and search functions failing. From my Google searching looks as if there may be unresolved bugs in Outlook 2016. Have been using Outlook 2016 for several months when one day searching just failed and stopped working. Did the re indexing recommend etc and it does not help. Having said that if I now leave Microsoft Outlook unchecked in my Indexing locations, Outlook 16 will search even though it gives me a message saying "something went wrong and your search could not be completed". As far as I can see it does a full search and works fine. If I do a rebuild of the index and then make sure Microsoft Outlook is checked in the 'indexing locations' the searching will once again no longer find anything. My issue is my Outlook 16 is clearly corrupted with this search bug it seems to have? And that my Outlook searching will soon totally fail. Has anyone seen this problem? Is there a fix that anyone knows of? |

I have exactly the same problem, and have tried all the above fixes as well. No change. Since the last major update to Windows.

Yes I think it is just a Microsoft programming bug that they are unable or unwilling to fix. I did find a solution (if you would call it that). In Indexing Options, Indexing Options> Modify - un-check Microsoft outlook. That's right un-check it. Search then works. Microsoft Outlook will tell you there is a problem when you do search and it that it cannot search but it actually does. (for me anyway).
I wish Microsoft would fix their bugs - they go on about how amazing there software is an then cannot even solve an mail index search problem. |

All was fine but I forgot to re-enable Office updates until yesterday. Downloaded all the updates that had come out since March. Search still didn't work and returned the dreaded "Something Went Wrong" error message. Apparently on account of some recent windows update this time, Lol. I had to un-check outlook indexing for a temporary workaround. This is all starting to get a little ridiculous. |
