I have Outlook 2016 running as a client on W10 through Office 365, and have a number of accounts either POP3 or IMAP registered. I have, over the last few days, started to see 'Receiving' failures when I synchronise the account (only that one, not any of the others). The 'Send' seems OK.
The error I receive suggests that 'your email server rejected your log in' Sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not, so that suggests to me that the account details held in Outlook are OK (otherwise it would never work). If I go into the Account Details and run the Test Connection, that usually works, and then Outlook carries out the Receive correctly, and then if fails later. That suggests a problem in the communications somewhere between Outlook and BT (I attach a screen shot of the error). I have looked for similar issues noted on the web, and I have seen some, but none that delivered a specific solution - in most cases the problem just stopped. I do have some Add-Ins running on Outlook, but none that I would want to disable - not sure whether that is relevant Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions? I have contacted BT, and they will get back to me tomorrow (Sat) - so they say. I am sure that they will blame Outlook. |
