I have recently found that I am no longer able to download my outlook.com emails using Outlook 2007.
I have tried removing the account and re-adding it, removing and reinstalling the Outlook connector but I still get the following message: Task '<email name>@outlook.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x80040126) : 'The operation cannot be performed because the connection to the server is offline.' Any ideas or suggestions how to resolve the problem? I AM able to access my email account using a web browser and with Microsoft mail, but I want a system that enables me to keep my emails in a file (outlook.pst) that can be backed up periodically against possible PC failure. |

Access the account via the Outlook.Live.Com web portal and ensure that it still has the POP option set in Settings > Accounts > POP and IMAP.

Hi
Many thanks for your post. I think this is finally shedding some light on the problem after a lot of searching and experimenting. I have set the options to POP and configured the website to allow POP deletions etc. but am still not quite there! When I set up the account again in Outlook 2007, I was able to add all the advanced settings of port, SSL etc. but under the internet email section I am being asked for Logon information: Username and password. I am not sure what to put here - as I have alreaady put the email account name and password in the section above. Can you shed any light on this? Regards Brian McHugh |

Panic over!
I have just tried another option and have re-entered my email account name and password in this section and now all appears to be working. Thank you SO much for your help - I have been struggling with this for days, and various 'Googled' solutions were just taking me around in circles. I had read that the Outlook.com serveres were being upgraded, and guessed that this might have been behind the problem. I was becoming resigned to the fact that I might have to buy a new copy of Office - which is overkill for the amount I use it. I am now getting my Outlook.com emails delivered to my 'Main' email account - rather than having a duplicate set of folders under another tab labelled with my outlook.co email address - which is considerably neater as I have a large collection of emails from my former ISP filed there. Thanks again. Regards Brian |
