Default PST File Confusion - Outlook 2010

I'm moving Outlook 2010 to a new computer. There are two POP email accounts in Outlook. However, there are three PST files: email1.pst, email2.pst, and outlook.pst. email1.pst and outlook.pst are about the same size. email2.pst is small since the account is not used much. All three pst files are valid and in use since all three have today's date. I've moved Outlook plenty of times in the past, but this is the first time I've moved Outlook 2010 or later. How do I use three pst files for two email accounts? Is outlook.pst a combination of email1.pst and email2.pst?

An installation of Outlook 2013 I did does not contain an outlook.pst file. What I do know is that outlook.pst in my Outlook 2010 is not an archive file. When I look at Data File Properties in Outlook 2010 setup, outlook.pst is set as the default file. My guess is that outlook.pst was moved to this computer, it was set as the default file, and when the email accounts were later added, the other two PST files were created. If that's correct, why is outlook.pst being updated?

Start Outlook 2010.
Click the File tab in the Ribbon, and then click the Info tab on the menu.
Click the Account Settings tab.
Click Account Settings again.
Click Data Files.

Note the path and file name of your .pst file. For example, C:\Exchange\Mailbox.pst indicates a .pst file that is named Mailbox.pst and is located in the Exchange folder on your drive C.
Click Close, click OK, and then click Exit and Log Off on the
