cant find the pst file
I am using windows 7 and outlook 2007, office 2007.
There is a desktop icon for outlook and when I click it I get a message saying "there is no email program associated with the requested action. please install an email program or if one is installed create an association in the default programs control panel" when I click ok it looks as if outlook is displayed on the screen although not with my old emails and folders. my pc went wrong and it is just back from the menders. before I do anything with outlook I want to try and copy all my old emails etc. I thought this would all be in a pst file but I cant file the pst file and nothing I have tried from the net has worked I have proper excel and word icons, both seem to now go through some configuration process but load ok. please can you help me with outlook? I am worried that if I try and reinstall outlook i'll lose all me emails etc. whre are all the emails kept? thanks smiler44 |

I sent you a private message offering help and I haven't heard back. Are you just not interested, or did you not get the message?

sorry BudVitoff, I had not logged back into this forum. I have set my post to receive email replies. Now I have your reply and logged in I can see the private message.
The pc alas has gone wrong and is at the menders but it seems the pst file is "missing" or has been corrupted. I'm not holding out much hope he can restore my emails. If you have any advice I'll gladly take it and pass it on or use when the pc comes back, been nearly 2 weeks my apologies' if you thought I was not interested smiler44 |

When you get your PC back, let us know its condition, and we'll see what we can do from there. I'll keep an eye on the thread.

Kindly don't take 'help' off-forum. Doing so deprives others of the benefits of any advice given, prevents others from correcting poor advice, and risks both duplication of effort and confusing the discussion when people start posting at cross-purposes.

I apologize for breaking the rules, but for what it's worth, my message to the OP was quite long, and summarizes to something like this: I've worked a lot with Outlook 2007, and the description of his problem sounds like the type that requires "looking around" by someone with experience to see if he might stumble across anything peculiar that may help the direction of a solution. I was talking about TeamViewer (a remote assistance package) that I use regularly to help my ex, my daughter, and a grandson with their problems. I went into detail about the concern he might have about letting a stranger into his system, about how my sixty years as a programmer makes my starting a life of crime now rather unlikely, and how he can abort the session with a single click if something I do makes him uncomfortable. I probably broke other rules by giving him my phone number and email address, but I figured if they didn't get through, I would contact the forum administrator to help out if a TeamViewer visit became likely.
