Default IMAP account - send deleted items to new folder?

Hi guys

I have my emails through google mail, and I have it sent up using IMAP through Outlook 2010.

As you will probably know, gmail has an annoying rule that all trashed items automatically delete after 30 days in your trash folder. it appears there is no way around that.

So, my thought is, in outlook I have created a new "trash" folder and when I want to remove an email from my inbox, I drag it to the new trash folder instead of deleting it.

The only issue is I forget and quite often still use "delete" when it goes into deleted items and then will disappear after 30 days.

Is there any way so when I hit delete on an email it goes into my new trash folder rather than into the deleted items?

Thanks!
