Default Outlook 2013 view settings no longer working

Since Outlook 2003 probably, I have had my Inbox set up with a view that excludes mails from two customers, and had search folders where those mails are shown. Not sure why, but I originally did this by using a rule to allocate a different category to each of these customers' e-mails, with the search folders set up to show only mails with those categories.

At some time recently, this system has stopped working. The search folders still work as they always have, but the Inbox shows all the mails, including those that should be excluded. I have tried deleting and readding the filter criteria, and I have also tried filtering based on the domain name of the senders with "From doesn't contain languagecompany". Nothing has worked, even though the original setup had worked for many years and I can find nothing online that even resembles this problem.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful.

Thanks.
Kevin
