Outlook 2010 - appointment invitations become e-mails

Recently, I have been unable to send appointment invitations from Outlook Calendar because although I send then as appointments they arrive at the recipient as plain e-mails, requiring them to be entered manually on the recipient's calendar.

I have not altered anything in the Outlook options. Can anyone suggest a remedy, please?[/FONT]

I have the same problem; and I know nothing about MS Office beyond how to install it.
My client has about 10 users with a combination of Office 2007 and Office 2010.
They asked me to add an email address to one of the machines (running Office 2010) and then decided that they did not want to use the new email address anyway. Prior to adding the account, there was no issue with calendar invitations. Since then, when this machine sends an invitation it is received as an email by the recipient. This machine correctly receives invitations though.

Thanks for your input. You are so far the only person to have replied, so presumably this is not exactly a common problem. After reading your post, we have deleted a recent account added to Outlook ... and so far it has not made any difference. However, we still have to reboot the PC, and I will of course let you know if that makes any difference.

JGT, good news! Thanks to your input, I deleted the e-mail account to Outlook.com, which had required the installation of some special Microsoft tool. On rebooting, the Outlook calendar invitations returned to being calendar invitations, and stopped becoming ordinary e-mails.
