Default security question....ports changed

Hi...this is my first post....I know the basic office programs fiairly well and have never really needed help with them that I cant look up online....but AI tried googling my issue and can't find it specificially....I am running outlook 2003...I have 2007 (all the rest of my office is 2007) but need 2003 to access my college email....so I realized last time I checked my email that my verizon address wasnt working so I go to check the settings and the incoming server pot is still 110 but the outgoing port is no longer 25 but has been changed to port 23226 and the outgoing server is no longer outgoing.verizon.net but 127.0.0.1 instead...isnt that the loopback port?? what does this mean?? I used spypig (email confirmation service) once with this account...I have used it w/ gmail and yahoo w/ no issues....is this some sort of malware doing this...is someone seeing all my outgoing email? what security measures should I take? what should I watch out for?

thx
