Default Outlook 2013 error 0x800CCC78, cannot send emails

Hello, I have been sending emails without any trouble for months on Outlook 2013, Windows 8.

Today, while sending an email to a number of addresses, the thing sent one email and then just started bouncing all the others.
The (non-)explanation given was 'Error 0x800CCC78. Cannot verify the email in your account properties. Server responded: 535 service is unavailable.'

As you may appreciate, this is next to totally meaningless to me. I pasted the error message into a search line, and got told to alter my outgoing message settings. I have never done anything with them, so they haven't been altered - certainly not in the middle of sending emails.
I had a look at the settings, and couldn't make any sense of them at all. So in ways I cannot grasp, I seem to have broken Outlook.

Please advise!
David Lee

Hi David,

What kind of account are you using? POP/IMAP/Exchange/EAS? If you're unsure, simply go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings and look under "Type".

Can you still receive email?

Hello, weirdly, it seems to have fixed itself overnight - the emails I sent before that bounced have been sent again.
Account type: POP3

Thank you!

Dave

Default It's happening again.

Although this problem, which appeared from nowhere, seemed to have fixed itself, it has not. The same thing keeps cropping up. It starts when I try ad send an email, and a dialogue box comes up asking me to enter my username and password for the following server I always do, and it rejects it, even tho I have never changed the password.

This stupid thing is driving me mad. Please advise!

Dave

Hi David,

Sorry to hear this problem is still present. Please answer the following questions to help me understand your issue:

- Can you still receive email?
- Have you contacted whoever hosts your mailbox to explore whether something has changed on their end?
- Is the sending issue intermittent? Have you been able to send ANY email since this issue began?

The original bounceback error seems to indicate that your email address cannot be authenticated within your account, suggesting there may be an issue with some of the servers associated with the company you are hosted with, OR they have (for some reason) changed their outgoing email settings without informing their customers. Which I doubt.

Default Outlook 2013 email send failure

I am using POP3 my IP provider is BT, operating system is windows 8, my problem is specific to 1 laptop, outlook 2013 send email functionality
I have just bought a new laptop with outlook 2013. I previously have used outlook 2007. I have set up the email address and I have sent test messages on the set-up to receive successful set-up notification. I receive messages without apparent problem but when I reply to a message or send a new email that message stays in the outbox and I received receive failure notification.
Of course I have to revert to my old laptop and outlook 2007 to send mails.
I have set up my new laptop mail the same as the old one. The old one works the new one does not work on send messages
