Default Outlook 2013 - caught in an infinite loop on startup

As per thread title, have installed outlook 2013. I need it to be fully offline - and just load a .pst file - and view emails contained within that .pst file.

I've fallen at the very first hurdle. I tried to configure and made an error - now it tries to connect to an invalid 'server' - but I can't get to the settings to adjust this. Can anyone assist?

Running Windows 8.
