Thumbs down .wda file extension added after .pdf, .docx, .xls, etc.

Using Outlook 2013, Windows 7 - 64Bit...not 2003 as shown.

For reasons I am unable to fathom some of my older emails with attachments still in my inbox have acquired a .wda file extension that's been added after the standard file extensions...pdf, xls, docx, and others. The attachments seem to have been dramatically reduced in size, and will now not open.

I have researched on Google, etc. and cannot seem to find anything about this that makes sense. I upgraded to Office 365 from Outlook 2007 near the time this has been occurring. The initial files attachments are OK when first received and open correctly. This problem only seems to be affecting attachments that have remained in my Inbox.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The files all seem to reside within the Date: Older section of my Inbox and look like this when I try to open them or view them with a reader window:

Default Check and see if renaming the email files resolves the problem

Try renaming the files extension and see if that helps
1) .dbx if you used Outlook Express
2) . pst for outlook
3) Also try .msg, or eml to see if that works

This page has list of all the Outlook email viewer and tell me if that information helped you. And this page if those emails in Outlook Express.
