Default Microsoft Database damaged

I'm using M.Office 2011 on a Macbook Air OsX.85.

Recently I damaged my database and cannot even open Outlook without it immediately crashing with the words: 'an error occurred whilst launching - there is no such disk'.

I have tried to rebuild the database but cannot open it to rebuild it. Also the Database Utility program will not permit me to enter the name of the user so I cannot rebuild it from there.

How can I restore the database without losing data please? I have a full backup of the database and 'Microsoft User data' on a hard disk. Advice much appreciated. Paul
