Why does leaving messages on the server in Outlook 2007 cause duplicate incoming emails?
This morning, I changed the 'Delivery' setting in Outlook 2007 to 'Leave a copy of messages on the server'. The chosen time for retention of messages was 7 days. Prior to this, no messages were being left on the server.
The unexpected and unwanted result was that all my incoming messages are appearing twice in my Inbox. Googling this problem has suggested that the cause may be that I have two accounts for the same underlying email address. One uses the real email address, the other uses the more user-friendly alias that I normally quote to other people (though the other address is also sometimes used on incoming emails). One suggested solution is that I stop the receipt of emails for one of those accounts. However, I am concerned that this may prevent me from receiving those emails that use the associated address. Some guidance would be appreciated. David |
