Default Read-only mail account

This question concerns Outlook 2003, SP1.

I have an old (Tesco) email account that I still need to monitor because occasionally people send me messages using that email address.

I don't ever want to send messages from that account. Indeed, I cannot easily send using that account because the internet connection I currently use isn't valid for outgoing mail so far as the Tesco mail servers are concerned.

I therefore set up two email account groups. I explicitly excluded the Tesco account from "All Accounts" and set up a separate group, called Tesco, containing only the Tesco account. I then edited the Tesco group and under the heading "Select the options you want for the selected account" I unchecked the box marked "Send mail items".

Despite all this, _and_ despite having an empty outbox, every time I do a send/receive, "Tesco -Sending" appears in the list of tasks and, predictably, that task takes ages while it waits to be told that it's not allowed to connect to the outgoing mail server.

How do I persuade Outlook never to attempt to send using this account, ever?
