Default Delete account and starting again?

I realise this is probably a really really basic question. But I want to sure ...

I had some synchonisation problems between Outlook 2013 and the Inbox of an email account. That's been sorted out now, but in the meantime I've done something which means that a whole batch of subfolders to that account are empty in Outlook. I think it was when I followed some instructions which I thought would deal with the Inbox sync problem and put INBOX as the root folder path on the Advanced tab of the Email settings (I've removed it now). I've checked that the mail is still there by going directly to my webmail but it just won't show in the Outlook folders. Would it be ok if I deleted the account on Outlook and then set it up again? I wouldn't lose anything if I did that? Or should I do something else?
