Default Outlook Contacts - Not appearing in addressbook

I am using Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2010. Received 400 contacts that had a .msg extension. The 400 contacts have been copied into an Outlook contacts folder. Verified that the contacts appear in the contacts folder. When you create a new message and type one of the newly added names in the TO: field, the name is not resolved. If I click Check Names, the names is not resolved. It is if the name is not recognized. I have tried typing the first name or the last name, but the results are the same.

We also tried clicking on TO: and selecting the Contacts folder, but the contact does not appear in the folder. The previously created contacts appear, but not contacts that originally had the .msg extension. However, if open the Contacts folder from the navigation pane, all contacts appear.

Any suggestions on why this is happening?
