Default Can't open 2010 ics calendar file in 2013

I have tried exporting and emailing an ics calendar file from my primary workstation ( Win 7 Ultimate system with Office 2010 // 32-bit Outlook client, v14.0.6xxx ) and cannot import or open the ics calendar file to open on my 2-n-1 laptop / tablet ( Win 8.1 system with Office 2013 // 32-bit Outlook client, v15.0.4xxx ).

All Office 2013 updates have been installed on the 2-n-1 laptop / tablet and have run the Office 2013 repair with no success.

I have read where some have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2013 with mixed results and am hoping someone here may have access to more beneficial alternate solutions.
