An xnk folder
Before I deleted an email account I dragged an .xnk folder from under the particular Outlook account to the desktop so that I could later drag it back under the account that remained.
However, when I now attempt to drag the folder from the desktop to the Inbox of the remaining account nothing appears to happen--or at least the folder does not appear under the email account? Is there a more specific procedure for doing this? Mark |

Hi,
Hmmm...an XNK file is a shortcut to an Exchange folder. I don't believe it holds your actual data, but rather the information about the shortcut. So, as long as the original folder remains, you can just recreate the shortcut to that folder again; but first, you'll have to make sure that Outlook 2007 has a connection to XNK files using the information from this article: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/xn...not-open-file/ |

I checked with file size which is way too small for the data file. I'm surprised that it doesn't have the familiar 'arrow' indicating a shortcut but you answer did solve the mystery.
I still have the data file intact elsewhere. |
