I have had this problem on and off for years, but is there a fix for it?
I open Outlook and receive mail (I use 'Mailwasher' so any SPAM is deleted before I download it). All is fine. I then find, maybe 20% of the time, that having written a reply to a given message, when I try to send it, I can't, as Outlook says it can't find the server. Usually, but not always, this is cleared by closing Outlook down and trying again. The wi-fi signal is strong (in any case I get the same with a LAN cable) and it's not a settings/accounts problem or restarting Outlook would do nothing (and I have no problem 4 out of 5 times). Why is Outlook saying it can't find the server (can be BT or Yahoo, doesn't seem to be server specific) but then all is OK half a minute later? OS is Win7 x64.. Thanks for any input. Martin |

Thanks.. I will try the next time I have the problem and post back.
The only thing is of course that, as I say, closing Outlook and restarting it often does the trick, so doing the same and restarting in safe mode might not prove anything. Will have to wait until a message stubbornly refuses to go even when I have closed and reopened Outlook two or three times, then try. Martin |

Hi. Had the problem this morning.. tried opening and closing Outlook. Still a 'can't find server' error. So ran in Safe Mode, and the message was sent OK.
The addins I have are the following: Active Application Addins: Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server colleague import addin Microsoft Outlook Mobile service NatSpeak OUtlook Addin (will be from Dragon Naturally Speaking) SMime addin Windows Search email indexer Have Googled these and seem not to need most for home use, so have disabled addins that seem to be optional (most apart from the NatSpeak one) and will see what happens....
