No email notification sound or visual

I have Windows 8 (64).



Few weeks ago, my outlook stopped giving me email notifications - both sound and visual. Both are checked in Options and work well when tested.

does any one know what's the problem and how to fix it?

I have come across some posts on the internet about Skype interfering with Outlook and some complex instructions how to fix it in the registry - which I'm not prepared to do.

Is this a known issue? can anyone help please?

looking at the number of replies vs number of views on these posts, it appears that there are no MS experts to provide advice, and hardly anyone posts a reply.

Do we have an MS expert here??? when I contact MS directly - they want to charge me for advice. I think it is Microsoft's responsibility to provide free support on their (very expensive) products.

otherwise it looks like it's a waste of time to post questions on the MC community forums where everyone has questions but hardly anyone has answers.
