Post Contact custom fields not showing

Hello all

I have an odd issue where we moved from office 2003 to 2013, we imported all data from outlook 2003 pst file to office 2013 on an exchange account.

all contacts and data imported ok, but... the client of mine has custom fields for all their clients. Only some of these show up

when you open some contacts some are entirely custom with old grey style background and the custom boxes and buttons, and have the button to get to the custom form with the custom fields on under the contact tab in the "show" area

others are the new white sort of metro style and don't have the button to the custom forms at all.

also if you view all people in list view, the little card picture on the left of the name has a blue figure for the custom contact and a coloured figure for the metro style.

im not sure why the custom forms have only been imported for some people and not others and does anyone know if its possible to recover this option from the people who don't have it.

thanks very much
