Default hyperlinks don't open ...

Hi,

for some reason my Outlook 2003 (Finnish language version) on my home PC (Vista premium OS) begun not to allow hyperlinks in email-messages to open. When I click any hyperlink a pop up window appears and says:

"This action is cancelled due to restriction effecting on this computer. Contact the system Admin."

What might have caused this?

Matti

Default Found this

Found this info for Outlook Express - but this bit should work for standard Outlook, too as it's to do with IE settings, not the email client :

If hyperlinks are not working, it's likely one or more registered file associations are configured incorrectly. To repair the associations:
  1. Click Start, click My Computer, and then click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
  2. Click the File Types tab.
  3. Select URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol in the list of registered file types.
  4. Click the Advanced button (Windows XP), or the Edit button (other versions).
  5. In the list of Actions, select open and then click the Edit button.
  6. The Application used to perform action box should contain this, including quotation marks: ["C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome]
  7. If instead it contains a short name version of that path, or an incorrect path, change it to the above. Click OK.
  8. Repeat steps 3-7 for the file type URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol with Privacy.
  9. Click OK to close the Folder Options window.

Hi,

and thank you for your reply and instructions!

Problem still unresolved because in my Vista Premium OS I could not find File Types tab AT ALL in the given place (My Computer/Folder Options/...)!

In my old PC with XP OS I indeed found the File Types tab fro the location you instructed.

Should the File Types tab locate also in Vista OS in the place you said, or has it dissappeared from there for some reason? Something has happened to the setting of OS since I did not have this hyperlink problem few days ago.

What should I do next?

Matti

Hi "Bird_FAT",

I just want to inform you that I found solution for the problem from here:
Where did the "File Types" tab in Folder Options go?.

Indeed, in Vista the File Types tab of XP is not anymore available in the same location!

Thank you for your help anyway,

Matti
