Change of recipient/sender display name
Hi All,
Environment :- Windows 2003 x64 with exchange 2007 (All in one role) Outlook client :- 2003, 2007 We have created a list of mail contacts (which under GAL) in exchange 2007, these mail contacts are associates with external email address, each of contact has a naming standard for display name, for example, display name is HD Finance Manager, external email address is fin_manager@hdemea.com I want to configure outlook client to show the display name according to mail contacts whenever the email address is match to mail contacts list (GAL), for example, an email sent from the email address of fin_manager@hdemea.com, with default reciepient name, but when we receieve the email from this email address, the display should re-match and show our standard display name rather than it default one. Is the setting need to be done on exchange GAL or outlook client side? Please advise Please feel free to comment. Many thanks and very appreciate it. |

Adjust GAL Settings
listlow,
Changing the way email addresses are displayed in the GAL is definitely a server side function. For Exchange 2007 you would use the Exchange Management Console to configure your email address policy. Hope this points you in the right direction! |

external recipient display name
Hi Masta7Mail,
First of all, thanks for the comment.. EAP is not a really work for my situation.. as EAP will not standardise the recipient contact's display name.. In deep, I realised that this was working charm in exchange 2003 environment, right after when we migrated exchange 2003 to exchange 2007, the external recipeint display name will not be display as per GAL display name that we defined. Take a look at this example internet header :- Microsoft Mail Internet Headers Version 2.0 Received: from hdm-fexchg-svr.hd.com.my ([128.128.10.7]) by hdm-fexchg-svr.hd.com.my with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.1830); Wed, 4 Mar 2009 10:12:11 +0800 X-AuditID: 80800a07-000012b400000730-2e-49ade37b0250 Received: from smtp.netv.com.sg ([165.21.73.184]) by hdm-fexchg-svr.hd.com.my with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.3959); Wed, 4 Mar 2009 10:12:11 +0800 Received: from cheahjk ([202.63.143.34]) by smtp.netv.com.sg (NETV Mail Server) with SMTP id LFR67253; Wed, 04 Mar 2009 10:13:53 +0800 From: "Cheah Gong" <cheahjg@hd.com.sg> To: "'HDMarlena \(Sanjaya\) - Appl Cons'" <marlena@hd.com.my>, "'HD(Soh. In fact, this does not work in exchange 2007 GAL when exchange 2003 migrated over to exchange 2007.. when I said it does not work mean the recipient display name will not be match with the defined display name of GAL.. Do you have any idea? |

Change sender display name in exchange 2007
Listlow,
I dont know if you have solved this or not, but i have just had to look into this and it is really simple. In the EMC > Recipient configuration > mailbox goto the properties of the user that you need to change, then the top line that has the user name in, change it to what you require, hit ok and job done. When you send an email from that user you will now see the new display name. This will affect the address book! Cheers Stew |

Hi all,
Windows XP, Office Professional 2007. I'm intranet logged (exchange server). My problem is the same, but simply I can't determine admin to change in Exchange Management Console, to configure the whole company's email address policy for my needs. My company uses GAL simple address: Display name=McDaniels, John has e-mail address john.mcdaniels@companyname.ch But for my needs is more important that this John is a Head Manager. So based on GAL addresess, I made my own distribution list in Contacts like this: Display name = Head Manager , same address john.mcdaniels@companyname.ch When I sent to this head an e-mail , and check in Sent Items, I see: Head Manager; Chief of Sales Dept; etc without their email addresses. How can I see there both informations: diplay name+email address: Head Manager <john.mcdaniels@companyname.ch>; Chief of Sales Dept <ellise.woodstock@companyname.ch>; etc, etc Without any change at EMC company-level. Just local for my own needs !!! THKS !!! |
