Outlook email editing with word 2003

Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help with this. I have office 2003 pro and word 2000 installed on my machine. Word was installed to a non standard directory. Everything works fine except outlook will not let me use word to edit emails now. Errors and says that word is not installed correctly etc. Anyone know of a fix or work around for this?
