Default Archiving Email Error

I currently Archive all my emails into another folder incase I get another email wipe, the folder is set to save all files onto an external drive of mine and all I have to do is drag the email into the folder. Simply right? Well it worked for awhile now I keep getting this error.

“Cannot move the items. The drive that contains your data file is out of disk space. Empty the deleted items folder or create space on the drive by removing some of your files. Access is denied. Verify the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not being used.”

There is plenty of disk space on my external so I am confused because my procedure of doing has not changed. Any thoughts Ideas or comments would be appreciated.
