I'm running outlook 2002 and have starting today been unable to delete messages and to send and receive. My inbox contains about 2gb of messages as well as the archive folder(I just checked) and looking at the Microsoft knowledge base they advised this would stop my being able to receive in that folder. I get an error message number 0x8004060c when sending and receiving.
Attempting to delete generates "the messaging interface has returned an unknown error. Please restart. I have- it doesn't help. The knowledge base suggested installation of SP 3 for windows and office which I did. I'd appreciate suggestions from anyone on the forum. Thanks. Mike |

Got it going; this might be helpful. On another forum someone advised being able to delete items by selecting and then holding down shift and then delete. This worked and I deleted hundreds of unneeded items from the inbox. It still wouldn't send and receive. At 4 this morning I realized that the items I deleted were only going into the deleted items folder and not out of the Outlook. pst folder. I emptied the deleted items folder and Outlook is working. Sounds like housekeeping is the answer.
