Cannot Get Outlook 2007 to Work
Vista Home Premium w/ Office 2007 on HP Pavillion A6230N, 32 bit Cannot get Outlook to be more than a phone book and at over $200.00 there are cheaper ways to go. Please help. Nothing works. Won't send/receive, won't set up. No help with Outlook Connector either. Do I need a Microsoft Exchange Server? Ant help would be great. Thanks. |

Cannot Get Outlook 2007 to Work
HELLO???? ANYONE???
Does Microsoft make anything that works with Vista or am I the ONLY one who uses Vista, because if I am, I'll GLADLY switch to XP. I've tried everything to get this garbage to work. It seems useless. What the heck is the trick???? |

What exact errors did you get? You added an email account with pop3/smtp, but couldn't send and receive emails? If you computer is connected to the Internet, this should be a very basic task.

When I use "TEST ACCOUNT SETTINGS" it fails, when I try to send an email it fails, when I try to receive and email from a different account it fails. It seems to be anything BUT a basic task since I've been messing around with this for almost a week. I'm to the point now that I'm going to try to get my money back.
I has told me that when I start up Outlook after istalling Connector it should come to a configure screen. Nothing happens. It tells me that after entering all of the required information it will work, nothing happens. I just don't know. If it was that easy I'd have thought I'd have gotten to work by now. I got SOME action out of it using YPOPS and a Yahoo account, absolutely NOTHING with my Windows Live account. When I try to send it just stays in the OUTBOX until I delete it. Last time it was about 20 minutes. The instructions state to enter the password the ISP gave me. My ISP has never given me a password therefore I cannot enter it. I've read and done everything I can think of but to no avail until I am now at wits end. If there is more to this than everyone and everything is telling me, I wish some one would put it print so I can get this worked out. Any thoughts? Thanks Matrix |

Another thing is that when I go to the HELP section of Microsoft, it keeps me in an endlesss loop always coming back to the same stuff I've tried and failed with.

I just tried another send from a Yahoo account and it isn't sending. I'm not getting any error messages per se, it's just not working.

How did you add an email account? By the standard way? 'Tools -> Email Accounts -> Add a new Email account -> Pop3..." and fill in all required information?
For some free email services, you may need to activate pop3 access first. I know Gmail requires that, not sure about Yahoo mail. |

Yes the standard way but though I'd LIKE to use my Yahoo account it won't work without a 3rd party connector (YPOPS) so I was going to route everything over to the new Live account except I cannot get Outlook to recognize another Microsoft entity. Funny how that works. I can ALMOST get Yahoo to work, but no where near getting Live to work. It's like putting a Chevy air filter on your Chevy car that doesn't fit, but its' Chevy and the right number. It just doesn't add up.

No I haven't. Neither have I seen or heard anyone say anything about it. I'll try this and let you know. Thanks.
Otherwise I'll take it back to Costco and get my money back. |

It ain't looking too good. This is even more confusing than all the other crap. Forget it I'mm taking it back and if they won't give me my money back I'll swear off all MS products. Sorry to sound so negative but a week of trying is a bit ridiculous. We use Outlook at work and I like it, but if it's going to take an act of congress to get the damn thing to wrk here, NAW. I QUIT!
Thanks for the thoughts. MS can get bent if this is what they're all about. |

Matrix,
You may have hit on something. I've done some stuff at work and cannot get to my computer at home, but it looks better now that I have my email account(s) configured. Wish they would have said something a week ago. I've opened accounts in Hotmail, Live, Gmail and Yahoo. I'll try Gmail and Live tonight. Id like to cancel my Hotmail account. Thanks for the help and AI hope I didn't irritate too much. Biggs |

Well I gues that'sthat. Microsoft is sure great! Except it doesn't WORK!
I'm being told to download OPutlook Connector and the next time I open Outlook 2007 a CONFIGURE OUTLOOK CONNECTOR" screen will come up. Why is this NOT happening? I can't very well configure Connector if there's no screen |
