Default Contact and Distribution Lists in Exchange Server

We recently changed over to MS Exchange. In my "old" version of Outlook 2007, I had a Contacts list and then had several separate folders for specific groups (attorneys, etc.). I also created a distribution list to those same people.
Now with the changeover, I have the specific groups, but I cannot navigate to them to send an email message. When I click the "to" button, the list does not come up. When I go to Global Address Book or Contacts, the group listings are not there. Similarly, I can't create a distribution list because I can't navigate to the groups to add members to the list. So right now the only way I can send an email to an individual or more in a group is to go to the group (attorneys) click the contact then click "send mail to"
Is there a way I can fix this?

Your distribution lists should still be usable. In Outlook, try right clicking on each of your subfolders, click Properties, Outlook Address Book and make sure that the option Show This Folder As An Email Address Book is ticked.

You could also click on Address Book, Tools, Options and check that the subfolders appear in the list.

Ouch I spoke too soon!!
When I changed the properties, by checking "show this folder as an email address book" It appears on my drop down list along with the global address book, but the address book is now blank!

This tells me that the contact group list is not synchronizing with your Exchange Service. This could be handled 1 of 2 safe ways. One, your Exchagne service may only populate changes to your GAL once a day and you may need to simply wait 24 hours.

2, if you imported your contacts into your Exchange service, it may be possible to check this information was exported correctly. Standard migrations have you export contact and calendar items to a .CSV that can be opened using Microsoft Excel.

Check to see if these groups are listed and simply import them again into your Exchange mailbox. PLEASE select do not import duplicates.

Keep us posted.
