Default Email Address as Field in Inbox

Is it possible to have the email address as one of the fields in the outlook inbox pane? I am using Outlook 2007.

I have looked at customizing the columns but do not see email address as one of the options. I do not want the From field as it can show display names slightly different for the same sender email address.

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Amurray,

First, are you wanting all emails to show your address or the address they are form?

If you right click the "arranged by", select 'View Settings' , Columns , you can change the 'Select avaialble colums from' to show all mail fields. Choices like from, to, account address are listed there.

Thanks for the reply.

I am trying to get it to display the actual email address that every message comes from. Sometimes I receive emails that have slightly different 'display name' even though the actual email address is the same
Ex:
john smith (jsmith @ abc .com)
smith, john (jsmith @ abc .com)
'john smith' (jsmith @ abc .com)

I want to be able to sort all my inbox messages by actual email address so I don't have to look in multiple place for emails from the same person.

Thanks
Andy

You can change it to sort inbox by "Send From". This should get you the list view you require.

If you right click the "arranged by", select 'View Settings' , Columns , you can change the 'Select avaialble colums from' to show all mail fields. Choose "Send From", after an outlook restart it showed me the Email address of the person who sent the message.

Hope this helps.

SpiderTech,

Thanks for the help. That sounds like what I want. I have Outlook 2007 & do not have that as a field option, but I did try it on a Outlook 2010 that we have in the office. Unfortunately, though it does have the option , like you describe, when I add it, restart OUtlook & try to sort by that field I get an error message that it could not sort because the criteria was too complex or data was missing.

I'll see if I can find another machine to try it on.

Could anyone else w/Outlook 2010 try SpiderTech's solution & let me know the results?

Thanks
Andy

Amurray,

That error is common for accounts not on an Exchange service. If you are on an Exchange service, your Administrators of that service might need to enable population of that type of data. By default this should be enabled.

We are using POP accounts, not Exchange. DO you think that type of data is not available with POP email?

Thanks

Unfortunately, I cannot answer that. Whom ever your provider is would be able to tell you if they can enable mail filtering by Sent from.

Hope this helps.
