Auto entry of email address (who I'm sending to)
When I attempt to address an email an old email address comes up for a contact. This is an old address for a contact not the current address. I have searched contacts and cannot find the wrong entry for this person. Where else could it be stored? -MikeT |

I would check in contacts first. There is a drop down list next to the email textbox that allows you to add several email addresses for the same contact. Post a reply if that doesn't work.

Good suggestion and I checked there but the old email address is not found in contacts. It seems like an old cash or something that Outlook holds and cant clear or update. Where is the setting for the address that pops up when you enter the first few letters of someone's name in the To: field of any message?

The tool that prompts you with an email address that you type in, is called Autocomplete. In 2007 you can delete an individual entry by using your arrow keys to navigate to it in the list and then by hitting the delete key. If you want to turn it off, you can find this feature in Tools >> Options >> Preferences (Tab) >> Email Options >> Advanced Email Options and then untick "Suggest names while completing To, CC and BCC fields". This should also work in earlier versions of Outlook. Let me know how you go.

Evidently, Outlook stores email some email addresses in someplace other than contacts. I have looked everywhere and cannot find where to edit or delete these old addresses. I see how to turn off auto-suggest but surely Outlook has someway to remove or edit this old addresses.
Is an upgrade from Outlook 2003 to 2007 worth the money in your opinion? |

Delete an old email address from autocomplete list
2007 is great however you don't have to upgrade to fix your problem. When the name appears in the list (and it's selected) hit the delete key. This will remove it from the list. If there are several names appearing in the list, use your arrow keys to change selection.
