Change in MySQL or Excel2007 making interaction unreliable

For the past few years I have used MySQL with an input from Excel 2007 of a worksheet .xlsx that shows reduced barcoded product prices if offered between certain dates. It has stopped reading this file for the past few weeks.
It was suggested to me that the top row Excel headers should be enclosed in square brackets - didn't work!
Also suggested was that top row Excel headers should have no spaces - didn't work!



All this seems to be coincidental with Windows changes since November.

Anybody know anything?
