Default Pasting two clips beside each other under a long heading

Hi, I'm using the Windows 10 OneNote app for assembling clips from church records. One thing bothers me. I open a new page and write some heading and then paste a clip underneath the heading. The clip is not as wide as the heading. If I position the cursor somewhere under the heading there is a white rectangle around the heading and the clip. There is no way I can put the cursor beside the first clip to paste another clip beside the first. I have to paste it to the right of the white rectangle. Then I can move it to the side of the first clip. Am I missing something?
