Default Manual Backup of all Notebooks

I am using MS Onenote 2016. When i attempt a manual backup from onenote's options/save&backup, the backup appears to proceed but at the end i get the following message:

"This section is from an earlier version of onenote and is read only. To continue editing you need to upgrade this section."

I have not used an earlier version of onenote and i have no idea what "this section" is.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
