OneNote Software Capabilities
Hello,
I am a new OneNote user and have been watching tutorials online. Although they provide a good understanding of the general functions and capabilities of the software they have yet to answer specific questions I have in regards to the software's functionality. Just some quick background of what I am hoping to achieve, I oversee a group of people at work. We are incredibly busy so it is hard for me to keep track of who is doing what. I would ideally like all of my coworkers to have To Do Lists which I can add things to and they can add things to. Some people I will want to have access to multiple lists some people only one or two. With that being said I would like to know if OneNote can do the following: - - Assign tasks to other people (will Onenote also send a message to the recipient?) - View certain people’s to do list, but not others - - Prioritize tasks - - Set due dates for tasks - - Add tagging to tasks - - Add subtasks - - Add notes to tasks - - Have the software send a reminder message just before a task is due - - Sorts tasks by person, date, priority, etc. - - Have people “follow” a task (i.e. view someone else’s task, but not be able to edit it) - - Link to an app that is password protected - - Can the mobile app can let people view tasks and if possible, create tasks as well Thanks, Hils |

ok, looking at the list here we go:
1. No OneNote does not send reminders 2. you can not set any kind of reading rights per section and users. you either grand read only rights or can edit rights 3. Yes but you have to do it manually 4. No it will creat a task which can be added to outlook, via tagging you can set a due flag. However monitoring goes via outlook 5. adding tags - yes 6. subtasks - no 7. write notes to tasks - yes 8. reminder for tasks - no 9. sorting, prioritizing - all manually 10. follow task - via outlook 11. and 12. via OneNote mobile - password protect section. Looking at the list o think Outlook tasks would do exactly what you are lookimg for. |

Hils,
From your description of what you're trying to do, I agree that Outlook can provide some of the functionality you desire. If you have a access, SharePoint can also provide most of the functionality you're looking for:
