Default Office multi-user licence

Hi,

Myself and a friend have both purchased new laptops and are looking to get Office installed on both machines. As a money saving tip I thought we could buy a 3 user license and split the cost between us. Is it possible to do this bearing in mind we live at separate addresses?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
