I mean CSV


Hello

I need some help ....

I am a Rave Promoter and a professional Emcee. So I sort of have a home office / studio thing going on but I am also kind of retarded so please don't laugh at my lack of office skills

I have a list of 4601 e-mails. Its online in my mailing list that I can log into and its also pasted on a notepad. I can't paste it into a OpenOffice Word Doc because it .ummmm " kills it " it can't handle the paste

This list is NOT separated my commas ( unfortunately ) ... But I hope that somehow I might be able to convert this list into a CSV File so I can import it into one of my e-mails that belongs to my website and my GMail Account and hopefully my Hotmail Account ... I know for a fact that I can import a CSV file into gMail and my other account because I did that today .... I hope I can also do this to my Hotmail ... I clicked " Import " on my Hotmail Account today and I did not see a " import with CSV Option "

Is this possible ??

Hi Proteus,

Try posting the entries from notepad into Open Office. This should then have the entries on their own row. Then, you can begin to manipulate the data…

Assuming that you have the text in Column A...

In column D copy & paste the following...

=TRIM(RIGHT(SUBSTITUTE(LEFT(A1,FIND("@",A1)-1)," ",REPT(" ",99)),99))&MID(A1,FIND("@",A1),FIND(" ",A1&" ",FIND("@",A1))-FIND("@",A1))

and you should find this will extract the e-mail address contained within the string of A1. This is not my own work, you can find the details at the following URL…

I tried to paste the 4601 e-mails from a Notepad into a Open Office Spreadsheet document and It did not create a proper CSV File

I also tried to use a .csv file that was created as a export from a Hotmail account and then delete all the contacts and then paste the 4601 e-mails into it and then I tried to separate by commas and then try and separate by tab and it still did not create a proper CSV file .. I know this because to try and test it I tried to import it into the address book of a Yahoo e-mail account but it did not work ........

OK nice and simple ..... I can pay for any software I need and I just want to take 4601 e-mails pasted into a notepad then turn it into a CSV File and import it into a Gmail account and my own personal e-mail from my website .....

Someone just explain this to me like you were talking to a 10 year old who was on Acid .....

P.s Every time I tried to do that it would not go into one Column ..
it was two Column with nothing dividing the two e-maails

Aaron,

The second column WAS the divider. All you had to do was select all of the e-mails in column 2, cut and then paste them at the bottom of Column 1.

It appears in Excel that you have got some additional spaces and a split it between columns A through to D.
