Default Office32bit on Windows 7 64bit

I bought Office Ultimate 32 bit about 2 years ago. I have a new pc which is 64bit and the Office is incompatible. are there any patches or other waysto use this expensive software

My understanding is that is perfectly acceptable to run 32 bit Office on 64 bit Windows.
