Default "This File ____.doc/.docx/ppt/pptx cannot be opened"!! help pls.

hi. i have microsoft office 2003 and 2007 installed on my computer. it has worked well with me for over a year with my norton antivirus 2008.. however, just recently, i seem to have some problem with it. i cannot open any file with microsoft office, though i can open these files through notepad, i tried uninstalling each one and reinstalling again, but it doesnt work. i searched the internet, and norton they said was the culprit, i tried the solutions, but to no avail. lastly, i tried a system restore, but still it does not work. everything works well though. any solutions? Thanks

I would suggest you review my "Uninstall" segment in the file listed as my signature "Troubleshooting"

I would not mix two Offices, because this is NOT a good idea (example: mixing two different security suites) -- When I upgrade Office, I first do a total uninstall of the previous Office

Using the Official Window's Uninstaller leaves traces of the program in the Registry, such as settings

If you do this, post what happens, then we can move to another level, unless someone else provides you an instant solution now

I cannot see how a security program would affect previous workable files on your system
