Hi jolenebb,

Many new PCs come with a trial version of Office pre-installed. There is no product code for the trial - you have to purchase a license to get one. If you bought the PC 2nd-had and did not receive the installation media with it, the implication is that, at most, you've bought a PC with a licensed copy of the operating system (for which the Product Key will be on the PC's case) and that you do not any rights to whatever other software was on the system.

If you'd bought a new or 2nd-hand PC with a licensed copy of Office (whether installed or not), you should have received the installation media with it, or at least the installation files that the previous owner might legitimately have downloaded from Microsoft. If it wasn't downloaded, the Product Key will be on the CD/DVD case the disc(s) came in. If it was downloaded, the Product Key should have been copied into the same folder as the installation files are kept in - and all burnt to a backup CD/DVD.
