Default "Outlook" has disappeared in Start-Programs-MS

Hi,

I've installed Office Pro 2010 (on WinXP SP3). I wanted to have an "Outlook" shortcut on my desktop, so went to Start-Programs-MS and dragged Outlook onto my desktop (this used to work when I had Office XP). However, while now as a shortcut on my desktop, it's deleted in Start-P-MS!

Does anyone know how to get it back to Start?

Also, how do I get Word etc. as a shortcut onto my desktop since it deletes it in Start?

Help would be much appreciated.

B

Default Access MS Office from Start Menu

Hello.

In order to access Microsoft Office Programs from the Start Menu, follow the instructions below:

1. Drag MS Office from the Desktop back to the Start Menu.

2. To create a shortcut for Microsoft Office on your desktop, once MS office is in your start menu, right click and select "Create Shortcut", then select desktop.

3. Repeat step 2 for all Office programs you wish to create a shortcut for on the desktop.

Thank you for your response. In the meanwhile I've had other advice which resolved it. You have to press Ctrl when dragging. When dragging it from desktop to Start without Ctrl it will appear as shortcut in Start (it will be marked shortcut) but not look like the original entry. I could drop it only as far as in Start and then in a second step could drag it to MS Office and delete it in Start where it had remained.

Dragging it from MS Office onto the desktop also requires Ctrl so that it remains in Start and is not deleted there.
