Default Office 2003 stops working looking for network share

Office 2003 sp3 stops functioning

OS; Windows 7 Enterprise
Hardware: Toshiba M700, R700, Lenovo x200, x201, and T61
Office Version; 2003 sp3 with conversion pack installed
Build Process: WDS, GPO, and scripting.
Office 2003 sp2 is deployed via GPO and sp3 and conversion pack applied after reboot by a scripted process we have been using for years on XP
User Rights: Work, they cannot install, uninstall, or modify applications. Cannot access registry and also cannot start, stop or modify services on the machines.
Virus Protection; Symantec Endpoint Protection

We have over 1600 users in the field and connect to the corporate network via VPN and receive updates via Altiris 6 and 7 but at this time they are receiving very few Office updates.
1200 of the machines were deployed in May 2010 and there have been several other small upgrades to bring us to the current number of 1600 Windows 7 machines running Office 2003.
Over the past 2 months we have had around 30 users call in stating the when they try to launch products in the Office an installer service launches and they receive a message stating they cannot access \\Server\**\**\*.msi , which is the share where the applications live.

Yes the Suite is fully tested before it is delivered to the end users and those users have been using it for months with no issues.

We currently send them a Office cd, connect to the machine remotely, uninstall, and reinstall and they have had no issues.

I have retrieved logs from a couple users and they really do not tell much:
