Default Why am I being prompted to save to the cloud?

Using MS Office 2021. Often (but not always) when I hit the Save button to save an MS Word document at its current location, i get a pop-up telling me to "Avoid losing changes to this file in the future by saving it to a folder backed up to the cloud instead." I am then prompted to select a location from dropdown lists. Of course I select the current location, but this is an unnecessary and annoying step.

I do not use the MS cloud, have never used it (back up elsewhere), and have never even created a cloud account.

Why is this happeneng (with some updates, but not others}, and how do I stop it? Thanks for any input.
