Office 2007 Mail Merge Issue - automatic formatting and revisions balloons

Tonight I began having a weird issue with mail merging that I have never encountered. Everytime I start a mail merge or click on preview, the revision balloons pop up on the right formatting the text. For each field I get a revision balloon of : "Formatted: Font: (default), garamond, 11.5 pt, do not check spelling or grammar.

The formatting itself is fine. I just do not want the revision balloons popping up everytime. I have tracked changes off, I also have the document viewed under 'final'. But each time inside a field or click preview it will automatically format and track those change in the revision balloon.

Maybe someone clicked Compare on the Review tab of the ribbon. It would yield similar results to change tracking being on. Also Compare > Combine is often referred to as "merging documents", so if someone were looking up mail merge, they might be mistakenly led to combine documents.
