Window size/location lost on reboot
I recently "upgraded" from Office 2010 Pro to Office 2021 Pro and discovered that one simple feature has been broken: The first time I open Word or Excel (but strangely, NOT Outlook) they always open in their default size/location. Sadly, that puts WORD in a very short/wide aspect ratio, pretty much the opposite of what I want. I use Excel much less often, but I would prefer that it save/restore the last used position as Office 2021 always did.
A Microsoft support person (using remote access to my machine) confirmed the issue and then re-confirmed it on a couple systems where she was located. Her conclusion that was that the programs were behaving "as designed." I asked her to please report the design flaw to the developers. Since the report (if she bothered) will be ignored, does anyone know of any way to defeat this "designed behavior" and force WORD & EXCEL to save/restore their window position across reboots? (They save/restore the position just fine during a single session -- only on reboot do they revert to the default location/size.) |

In the past I found that window sizes were only saved if one uses the drag method to resize the window.
1. Drag the app (Word or Excel) window to the size you want. 2. Close the app. 3. Reboot. 4. Reopen it to see if the size and position are remembered. It costs nothing to try it. |

Dragging is the only way I resize the windows. Consider that fact part of my original post. But thanks for trying!
