Unhappy How can I banish Calibri from every MS Office app?

The good thing I can say about Calibri is that it is sans serif, which makes it more accessible. Everything else I can is what's wrong with it. It is small, which makes it unsuitable for accessibility. It is also not the standard expected in the publishing or academic spheres. However, no matter what I do, I cannot rid myself of Calibri in Outlook or MS Word, regardless of having set the default font to something else. I want to make it impossible for any Office app on my computer to use Calibri. Is there a way to do this, since setting default fonts doesn't work? Every time I start a new message in Outlook, even though I set the font to Arial 12, I see a box below my text with Calibria and a smaller font size in it. It's maddening. Thanks.

Default

Outlook will use whatever font you set. The default, where no theme is selected, is to use Calibri 11 point. You can choose from one of umpteen themes from File > Options > Mail > Fonts & Stationery, or stick with the default No Theme and set the fonts individually for new messages, replies and plain text messages.
The Word default font is the font configured in the Normal paragraph style. Open the normal template and edit that style as required. Apply that style to the first paragraph then save and close the template.

Document templates can have any fonts you require associated with the styles in the template. Word uses style based formatting. You should only have problems with formatting if you try and avoid using styles to format your document.

If you have not changed the default location enter or copy
%appdata%\Microsoft\Templates
to the address window of Windows File Explorer and you will be taken to the folder that contains the default template - normal.dotm. Note that this folder is normally hidden.
