Default What program? Image selection which translates to pricing on form

I have created an Excel spreadsheet to fill out several forms for clients. There are a ton of formulas to it (mostly to do small logic functions that would be common sense to a person if handwriting it) and it is starting to run slowly. I've fixed most of the slowing by putting all of the tables on the same worksheet as the main inputting. I use the tables to select certain packages that are common, but they do not have the merchandise in the packages. In the next version I want to add images of products so that when they are selected it fills the correct pricing into the form.

Should I be using Excel for this? I have never used Access but have heard that it is much more powerful and maybe more suited to what I am doing. I need this to be able to run on netbooks and ideally be something that I later use to create an app for the iPad.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
